The results for the April 23rd 30th annual Spring Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup by the Texas General Land Office are in. Unfortunately wet weather conditions resulted in the cancellation of four sites, but 6,757 volunteers showed up at 27 locations to remove 110,663 pounds of trash from 151 miles of Texas coastline. The rain cleared in time giving volunteers a sunny but cool day to enjoy the beautiful Texas coast!

Since 1986, more than 496,000 Adopt-A-Beach volunteers have cleaned more than 9,200 tons of trash from Texas beaches. Cigarette butts, beer cans and plastic bags are among the most common items found. But with each cleanup, plenty of odd and unusual items inevitably are reported. A few of the of weird items found on Texas beaches Saturday: a toilet seat, propane bottles, hand cuffs, refrigerator, and Japanese cigarettes in a can.

The Texas General Land Office Adopt-A-Beach program is an all-volunteer effort to remove trash from Texas’ shores. Coastal cleanups are held three times each year and the program’s success is due to the hard work of volunteers, including local coordinators who work many unpaid hours publicizing the cleanups in coastal communities. The next cleanup will be the Coastwide Fall Adopt-A-Beach effort scheduled for Saturday, September 24, 2016. Adopt-A-Beach volunteers record data on the trash they find to learn more about the causes of marine debris and to help mitigate pollution along Texas’ 367 miles of coastline.

Clean up in Calhoun County:
Magnolia Beach – 6 miles cleaned – 3,780 lbs. of trash
Boggy Nature Park – 1 mile cleaned – 468 lbs. of trash
King Fisher Beach – 1 mile cleaned – 555 lbs. of trash

THE WARRIORS ARE COMING! THE WARRIORS ARE COMING! And we are preparing for another great Saturday breakfast of tacos. There is no way we could accomplish this task without the help of the entire Chapel family and many friends who come along side us! It is a huge task to round up the 40 different items that are needed in multiples to feed the soldiers and their families. “Thank you!” sounds so trite for all the tremendous efforts of not only those who generously provided the supplies, but the 25 people who made it happen! Those who came for the “Egg Cracking Party” and those who got to the Community Center by 4:00 a.m. to actually put it all together are dedicated people who love our servicemen and servicewomen and want to contribute something to make this weekend extra special. Thanks!

Pastor Joane preached the Mother’s Day message for our ladies. It was a great time and each mother received a special gift. That evening we celebrated a birthday with cookie cake and Blue Bell.

We are ministering concerning the Lord’s Sermon on the Mount. We are using what we call the “Beatitudes” each Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m., but also finding additional messages that we are sharing in the Sunday evening service at 6:00 p.m. and the Wednesday midweek service at 7:00 p.m. Most of us have read these “Beatitudes” without truly understanding what they mean, so we are finding great instruction as well as wonderful inspiration from this Bible passage. Come and bring a friend!

On May 29, at 6:00 p.m., we will be gathering at the Chapel around the Barbeque Pit for a time of great food and fellowship. It will be an All Church Fellowship. The volleyball net will be up and other games will be available, but the main attraction will be the food that comes off the pit! The Chapel offers many opportunities for fellowship and everyone is welcomed.

On June 10 and 11, we will be hosting another retreat with those from Gonzales. They will be coming for a spiritual refueling and a body refreshing. It will be a great time and they will return back home with a new commitment to service for the Lord.

On June 19, every dad present in our Father’s Day service will receive a unique gift with dads in mind! No one could guess what it is, but we have Captain Marty to thank for his generosity again this year!

Fisherman’s Chapel is an interdenominational congregation whose task is helping us reach Heaven safely. Everyone will find a warm welcome at the Chapel and all are urged to, “Come, grow with us!”

Mothers Day was a real blessing at the Church! After greeting all the mothers and the many guests, the children gave each mother a beautiful flower. The Oldest Mother, EVELYN LEWIS, was presented a corsage and the Youngest Mother, APRIL GUEVARA was also presented a beautiful corsage. Evelyn Kitchens penned the corsages on each of the winning Mothers.

Our Pastor, Donnie Martin, is still in the Port Lavaca Hospital, recovering from surgery. We are praying that he will soon be coming home.

Bro. George Yarbrough was our visiting Pastor last Sunday and, as usual, he preached a great sermon.

The Church is working on a new Church Directory, which will have pictures of all members and their families and pictures of friends of the church and their families. Photos will be taken in August 2016 and the Committee will be contacting everyone for appointments. Each member will receive one Directory and one 8X10 family photo at no charge and the opportunity to purchase additional photos of family members.
