POC First Graders Learn Contractions

First graders in Mrs. Anderson’s room became surgeons for a day while learning how to turn 2 words into a contraction.  They dressed the part with surgical masks, hair nets and gloves. Next they “operated” by cutting out parts of words, removing letters and stitching them back together.  When they were finished, they put a bandaid over the scar (apostrophe)  creating a contraction. Picture Surgeons; Cole Spicak and Lyric Lopez operate on the words “has” and “not” to create the word hasn’t
