Dear Readers,
We are unhappy to announce that due to the Covid situation. our long-standing tradition of the Port O’Connor Community Thanksgiving Service has been cancelled for this year. We are hoping that another tradition: Holiday Food Baskets for those in need, will be able to continue this year. It depends on the support of the community.
Please read and consider the following article. Will you help this important outreach to continue?
    Thank you. Joyce Rhyne

Port O’ Connor Benevolence

We missed seeing you at our Annual Thanksgiving Community Service! It had to be cancelled due to the virus.  As a part of our Community Thanksgiving, we always receive an offering for the needy of our Community – No people, no offering!

Last year, we spent $4,344.85 for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets, plus emptied the pantry at Chapel Pantry.  At present, we have $2,932.63 in this account designated for the baskets.  Does anyone think food is cheaper this year?

In the first hour after we announced the Thanksgiving Basket sign-in on Facebook, we received eight requests with needs.  We have no idea how many families are hurting and we definitely try to make certain that we feed no greed, but every need! Please give generously at our local bank or any of our churches and we will try to stretch every dollar.

The Thanksgiving Baskets were be distributed on Tuesday, November 17th.  The Christmas Baskets will be passed out on December 15th with a sign-up deadline of December 6th.  Please help us as we try to help others.

Thank you,
Joane McDonough for POC Benevolence Fund
